In my life I have lots of interests and everyone come out of the blue in a special moment when routine turns into something special. Once I read Karles Vives's story written by Gianrico Nai in “ Le tapas di Traverso”, Rider nr. 56...that was my moment: the protagonist wasn't a mechanic but he was able to create his special bike working hard on his own. I said: I can do it as well and I will try to do it!
By the time I love BMW bikes there was no doubt about the brand, the only choice was the model. Research finally ended  up with an old R 100.

The project in my mind included a mix of cafè racer and scrambler, the colors and details but the way to finalize it was still far.

step 1 find the motorcycle to customize;
step 2 plan a homemade workshop with all the pro per tools;
step 3 meet and discuss with experts mechanics to better understand what to do;
In the Romagna countryside where the 2 wheels are loved more than women I finally found my bike: Paolo and his father  were waiting for me in their garage full of vintage motorcycles: Ossa, Electra Glide, KTM and in the middle one amazing BMW R 100 dated 1982. I put the motorcycle in the truck with my friend's help and we all brought it at home.

This is my custom story, a story of passion and friendship: the last one was the key element that really make the difference in the project. This was not just MY motorcycle but it was a reason to meet old friends, new experts, curious people and fans. on top of the list Jambo, a high-school mate and experienced metal worker.
He was able to create unique pieces like the back chassis, the plate holder. We  dismantled every single components and reassembled them in the way the bike looks like today. I am very proud of the output, specially because I am not a mechanic neither an expert, so what made it possible is just a strong passion for bikes and hard work on it. Mauro, the trusted mechanic check it out and made the last touch-ups for safety reasons.

Like Karles Vives now I can proudly say I did it!
